Police have arrested two people in relation to the theft of four handguns that were stolen from a home in Hantsport on February 17.
On February 18, the RCMP was notified by Halifax Regional Police (HRP) that two suspects in the theft were in a home on Young St. in Halifax. Given the nature of the call, the HRP officers requested assistance from the HRP Emergency Response Team, an HRP K-9 team, and a negotiator.
An 36-year-old man and an 34-year-old woman were arrested for the theft when they left the home. A warrant was obtained to search the home, however the guns have not yet been found. Both individuals were released from custody later that day. The man was released without charges and the female is scheduled to attend Windsor Provincial Court on April 23, on charges of Theft Under $5000, and a number of firearms-related charges.
The investigation is ongoing. The RCMP continues to ask that anyone with information about the stolen firearms contact them at 902 798-2207.
