Update: Police charge youth, seize gun in robbery incident, Cole Harbour, N.S.

The General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has charged a male youth in relation to a robbery incident in Cole Harbour that occurred on July 21.

Preliminary investigation determined three youths were walking on a trail behind Colby Dr. Elementary School when shortly after midnight, a group of eight males approached them in the playground area of the school. Two of the males ordered the three youths to empty their pockets. A weapon that appeared to be a pellet gun was then pointed at the youths by one of the suspects during the robbery.

This morning, search warrants were executed on Amos Walker Dr. in North Preston and Cloud Dr. in Cole Harbour. As a result of the searches police located a handgun which is believed to have been involved in this offence. A 16-year-old male was arrested and is facing numerous charges under the Criminal Code for robbery and firearms offences. The male will be held pending a court appearance on August 4 in Dartmouth Provincial Youth Court.
