Update: RCMP investigate suspected arson, Nictaux, N.S.

Annapolis County RCMP have laid charges in relation to a fire that occurred in Nictaux on Saturday evening. On May 31st at approximately 8:32 p.m., Annapolis RCMP attended a residence on Old Runway Drive in response to a threats complaint.

On May 31st at approximately 8:32 p.m., Annapolis RCMP attended a residence on Old Runway Drive in response to a threats complaint.

When police arrived at the residence, they found black smoke billowing out of the home. Nictaux Fire Department arrived shortly afterwards and the fire was quickly extinguished. Later that evening, an Annapolis County adult male was arrested without incident at a residence in the Middleton area.

Anthony Scott Haynes, 42, from Nictaux, is charged with several offences including Arson, two counts of Mischief, one count of Uttering Threats and two counts of Breaching Court Orders. He is appearing in Digby Provincial Court this morning. The matter remains under investigation.
