Update: RCMP on scene of a barricaded person, Glenholme, N.S.

RCMP are confirming the death of a 44-year-old man who was the subject of an incident in Glenholme. This morning, 8:30 a.m., RCMP received a call that a man was threatening to harm himself.

RCMP are confirming the death of a 44-year-old man who was the subject of an incident in Glenholme.

This morning, 8:30 a.m., RCMP received a call that a man was threatening to harm himself.

When police tried to speak to the man in a residence on Highway 2, he barricaded himself inside the residence and threatened to harm himself or police.

At 5:45 p.m., RCMP Emergency Response Team officers entered the residence and found a deceased male believed to have died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot. His name is not being released at this time pending notifications to family.

Police will remain on scene and the matter remains under investigation. Residents are allowed to return home and the highway has been re-opened to traffic.
