Update: Yarmouth RCMP makes arrest following shooting incident

Yarmouth Rural RCMP has arrested a 22-year-old man in relation to an incident on the evening March 1 where another man was injured as a result of a gunshot.

Ronald Dempsey Higby, of Yarmouth, was arrested in the early evening hours of March 1. He was located on a wooded trail near Ellis Rd. and was arrested without incident. He has been charged with Attempted Murder with a Firearm, Endangering the Life of a Person, Breach of Probation, and a number of firearms offences. He was held in custody and appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court on March 5, and is being held in custody until his next court appearance on April 3.

The RCMP was assisted by Ground Search and Rescue teams who searched for evidence on March 3, and located parts of the firearm and some ammunition believed to have been used by the suspect in this incident.
