Hello everyone…a few tidbits today for Fleming Park and a concert to support the Herring Cove YWCA. Enjoy the sunshine!
This spring, the Adventure Earth Centre located in Sir Sandford Fleming Park will be getting an outdoor classroom.
The city poster describes it as having a “covered portion with picnic benches, wood which is environmentally friendly and is the suggested lumber for standard use in all parks, a ramp to the lower portion to ensure accessibility for all community members and participants, no alterations to existing heritage building.”
Also in Fleming Park, a tender is out for replacing the stairs.
An upcoming concert by the Spryfield Second Chances Community Band of Nova Scotia will raise funds to purchase playground equipment for the Spryfield YWCA.
This is part of the first community band festival in Halifax, held during the May 23-25th weekend. Players are coming from around the Maritimes and Ontario. The weekend will end with a public performance put on by all the participants:
Sunday, May 25
McNally’s Auditorium, Saint Mary’s University
Doors open 2pm, concert begins 2:30pm.
Tickets $10, available at the door.
All concert revenue will be given to YWCA Spryfield in order to help pay for new playground equipment for the daycare centre.
