Urban Farm closes garden for winter, and has cookbook available at Spryfield Sobeys

On Saturday, October 30, from 10 am to 12 noon the Urban Farm Museum Society of Spryfield will be thinning out the flower and herb gardens and  selling  the extra plants at the Urban Farm garden. The garden is located near the corner of Rockingstone Road and Ardwell and we welcome all visitors on this final gardening day as we plant our garlic and put our gardens to bed for the winter.

Also, Martha Leary, a long-time volunteer with the society, reports in the Chebucto News that “the Urban Farm’s cookbook is a real deal at $15 (pick one up at Sobey’s on Herring Cove Road or urbanfarmspryfield@gmail.com). It is a combination cookbook and local history book with plenty of quotes form some four elder local people about how they cooked and what they ate earlier in the last century.”
