Weapons incident involving Dartmouth youths

Police have charged a youth in relation to a weapons incident in Dartmouth on the weekend.

On May 14 at approximately 4:25 p.m. officers responded a report of a youth with a knife chasing another youth in the area of Caledonia Road and Main Street. The suspect fled the area on foot. Officers arrested the youth a short distance away, searched the suspect and seized a knife.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident. Investigators believe this was not a random incident.

A 17-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Youth Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
