Municipal Services

  • Solid Waste Collection and Facility Hours:
    • No garbage, organics, or recyclables collection on Monday, May 20. Curbside collection normally scheduled for Monday will occur on Saturday, May 18. Place materials curbside prior to 7 a.m. on collection day.
    • Otter Lake Waste Management Facility: Closed on Monday, May 20, but open regular hours on Saturday, May 18.
    • Household Special Waste Depot in Bayers Lake: Closed on Saturday, May 18, open on Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • A mobile Household Special Waste Depot will be held on Saturday, May 18 at Mic Mac Mall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Halifax Transit:
    • Buses and Alderney Ferry service will be operating on holiday schedules on Monday, May 20. No Woodside Ferry service on Monday, May 20. Detailed holiday schedules by individual bus and ferry route can be found online.

  • Recreation Facilities, Programs, and Services:
    • Many recreation facilities will be closed on Monday, May 20. Call ahead to respective facilities for operating hours and program information.
    • Sackville Sports Stadium: Open regular hours, with fitness centre and some drop-in programs available. Registered programs will not be offered. Call 902.869.4141 for more information.
    • All sport courts have reopened for the season. Contact information for booking courts is available online. Municipal parks, playgrounds, and trails remain open.
  • 311 Contact Centre:
    • Closed on Monday, May 20 for full service, but urgent calls can still be reported. Regular operating hours resume on Tuesday, May 21.
    • In-person Customer Service Centres will be closed on Monday, May 20, reopening with regular hours on Tuesday, May 21. Further information on Customer Contact Centres can be found online.
  • Parking: Paid on-street parking will be free on Monday, May 20. Ensure adherence to other posted signage and avoid blocking intersections or sidewalks.
