RCMP release:
Meteghan RCMP has charged a man with firearms offences following an incident outside a local pharmacy.
On May 15, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Meteghan RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a man with a firearm outside a local pharmacy.

Responding officers learned that the man had been driven to the pharmacy by a man and a woman known to him. While driving to the pharmacy, the man and the woman observed what they believe was a firearm in the man’s possession. Upon arrival, the man and woman entered the pharmacy and called 911, leaving the man in their vehicle in the parking lot. The pharmacy was then locked down; the man did not attempt to enter the pharmacy. Just before officers arrived, the suspect fled the pharmacy parking lot in a white van that was parked nearby.
Meteghan RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP detachments from Yarmouth, Digby and Bridgetown, RCMP and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources Air Services, and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, began an immediate search for the suspect.
At approximately 2 p.m. Digby RCMP located and safely arrested the suspect outside a business in Weymouth. The suspect was not armed at the time of his arrest. Shortly after, officers located and arrested the driver of the van in Church Point.
Craig Mitchell Burns, 30, of Weymouth, has been charged with Possession of a Concealed Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and Breach of Conditions. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Digby Provincial Court on May 21.
The driver of the van, a 32-year-old man of Church Point, will be facing breach charges.
