who cares about this planet? watch this video help vote for which green project should win $5000

Planet People, the manufacturer of eco-cleaning products including iQ – The Smarter Cleaner, is proud to announce the 5 finalists for its “Who cares about this Planet?” Challenge. The challenge encourages individuals and groups to submit innovative green projects for a chance to win up to $5000.00 in funding. Entries were reviewed by an Advisory Committee consisting of leaders in the environmental sector, including the CEO of Green Living, eco-journalists from Mother Nature Network and Homemakers, and a representative from Planet People (for full bios of the advisory committee, please visit: http://bit.ly/sEoA4C.) After carefully reviewing the entries, the advisory committee has selected the following submissions as the top 5 finalists (in no particular order):

· Spring Harbour Middle School Greenhouse Project Madison, WI : Building a sustainable greenhouse constructed entirely of recycled/reclaimed materials

· Boat Clean – Changing the culture of Boating Toronto, ON : Creating regulations focused on reducing boat and outboard engine emissions

· Ecosphere Fitness Center San Jose, CA : Using only sustainable energy production/conservation to introduce the 1st sustainable gym

· Quinzee – Making home Energy Use Relevant Toronto, ON : Introducing a mobile application to provide personal energy use information to consumers

· Saving the Planet at Work Brampton, ON : Introducing incentive based parking systems for employees and their workplaces

In the next and final phase of the challenge, voting is opened to the public to select the winner, with every vote contributing to a dollar raised for the winning project People are encouraged to support submissions by voting for the entry they believe is the most innovative and sustainable project. Voting will begin Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. and end Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. with the winner announced on Thursday, January 12, 2011. The finalist with the highest number of votes will receive the Grand Prize. To vote, please visit www.facebook.com/iqcleaner. Only one vote per person permitted.

The “Who cares about this Planet?” Challenge follows the company’s 2011 launch of iQ, a new line of eco-friendly household cleaning products that questioned conventional cleaning, and features an innovative new packaging system that allows consumers to reduce plastic waste by over 80%.

To support the “Who cares about this Planet?” challenge, Planet People worked with a Toronto based and emerging Spoken Word artist, Made Wade and Filmmakers Eighteen Eighty to create a thought provoking short film that encourages viewers to question their own commitment to the planet.
