Windsor Rural RCMP Warn of Phone Scam

Hants County, Nova Scotia…On April 22, 2016, an elderly Hants County resident received a phone call from a man who identified himself as Steve who said that he and the resident met previously at church. The caller went on to say that he had cleaned up his life, was in need of $500 to pay his rent and that the money could be sent via Western Union to a woman in Blue Acres, Nova Scotia. A phone number was provided however it has been disconnected.

The RCMP reminds citizens to exercise caution when being asked money over the phone. If you suspect that something is not quite right, hang up immediately and either contact your local police department or the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at either 1-888-495-8501 or info@antifraudcentre.ca.
