#Wmcfw Day 1 Collections

With only 3 shoes on the roster, the first day of fashion week might have been the shortest , but boy did the designers set a tone. Mikhael Kale, Sig Neigum, and Pink Tartan all showed great collections, and some of them were among the best of the week (see Mikhael Kale).
From beautiful beading, minimalist structure, and luscious furs these three set the bar high for the week ahead.

MIKHAEL KALE
I adored this collection not only did Mikhael Kale deviate from the traditional runway format (he sent girls through the aisles above) he stayed true to himself and his brand without being boring or repetitive.
Kale, known for his clever cutouts (see last year’s plunging cut outs at the hip) did do them again, but combined them with some very strategic layering and pleating that played with both texture and color.
The collection was both hard and soft, feminine and edgy at the same time. This collection could easily appear on the runways in Paris or Milan and it would hold it’s own. The amount of hours that went into that beading along must have been extraordinary: it was just absolutely stunning.
Fun fact I actually bumped into Mikhael Kale outside the Fashion Mag Awards party, as we were both leaving at the same time. He was so sweet and humble. Wishing you all the success, but I know I won’t need to because you got this!

SID NEIGUM
Very minimalist with clean lines, and a whole lot of structure, Sid Neigum did well to build from his previous collection and style. I can’t wait to see him push just a little harder I know he’s going to achieve really great things. Those white dresses with the high neckline though? They were everything to me. I want to wear everything. Well done Sid.
PINK TARTAN

Over-sized shoulder bows, colorful furs, and snowbank backdrop? Pink Tartan you really know how to put on a great show! With a military feel the collection combines warm furs with structured jackets and long hemlines. Can we talk about those serious arm cuffs? and those bows? Amazing! love love love. Pink Tartan actually won the best collection at the Fashion Mag Awards, and it’s easy to see why. It’s cohesive, it’s done impeccably well, and it was just a great show.

So that was day one blog reader it was short, but not short on talent!  Hope you enjoyed this little recap 🙂 I had SO much fun attending the shows and events in Torotno blog reader.
