Woman accused of swinging dog by leash has been charged

On July 6, Halifax Regional Police initiated an investigation after becoming aware of a video of the incident circulating on social media depicting the mistreatment of one of the dogs by a woman who is not the dog’s owner.

Today at approximately 8 a.m. investigators arrested the woman without incident at an address in Dartmouth. Clarissa Angela Crawley, 27, of Dartmouth, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of assault with a weapon and willfully causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Police have charged a woman in relation to an incident involving mistreatment of a dog that occurred last week in Dartmouth.

Investigators believe there may be other witness to the incident who have not yet spoken with police.
