Woman assaulted on South Street

Officers assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section are investigating an assault that took place over the weekend in Halifax.
 
On Saturday night at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of South Street to a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they located a 22-year-old woman with a minor injury to her midsection. She reported that she was approached by a man who produced a knife and held it against her stomach resulting in a small cut. The man then gave the woman a message for her boyfriend and fled the area. The woman does not have a boyfriend and investigators believe the woman was targeted in error. The woman was checked by EHS but did not need to attend the hospital. The suspect is described as a white man, 20-years-old, 5’10”, with an average build and short hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
