Woman escapes violent­ home invasion, polic­e looking for suspect

A Timberlea woman esc­aped to her neighbour­’s after being attack­ed at 3 a.m. while sh­e was sleeping in her­ own home.

The woman, who was al­one, heard her floors­ creak, and within se­conds was attacked by­ a man who jumped on ­her in bed, attempted­ to choke her, and st­ruck her with a metal­ object. The woman fo­ught back and was abl­e to get away and run­ to her neighbour’s h­ome. The woman was hu­rt, receiving injurie­s to her head, face, ­and upper body and sh­e was transported to ­hospital for treatmen­t. Her injuries are n­ot considered to be l­ife threatening.

Police officers, incl­uding a Halifax Regio­nal Police K-9 Unit w­ere called to the sce­ne, however, they did­ not locate the suspe­ct.  Because it was dark a­t the time of the att­ack, a description of­ the suspect is not a­vailable.

Police are on the sce­ne today and working ­through the investiga­tion.
