Yarmouth man charged with child pornography offences, Yarmouth, N.S.

The RCMP Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) have arrested and charged a Yarmouth man following a child pornography investigation. On Wednesday July 29, 2015 at approximately 7:00 a.m.

, members of RCMP ICE with assistance from the Yarmouth District RCMP executed a search warrant at a Dane St. residence in Yarmouth.

Daniel Alexander Rose, 68, was arrested at the home and has been charged with Making Available Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography. Rose was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on December 1, 2015.

The RCMP encourages all members of our communities to be a voice for those children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tip line for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.

In October 2008, Nova Scotia introduced legislation making it mandatory for citizens to report suspected child pornography. This means that anyone who encounters child pornography material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Children and Family Services Act.
