Yarmouth Rural RCMP investigates serious collision

Yarmouth Rural RCMP is investigating a serious single-vehicle collision in Melbourne.

At 6 a.m. this morning, the RCMP was called to the scene of a collision near 474 Melbourne Rd. A man was found laying on the road with serious head injuries, and the vehicle he had been driving was off the road, in the nearby marsh. EHS and Yarmouth Fire Department also responded.

The 18-year-old Little River Harbour man has been transported via LifeFlight to hospital in Halifax for treatment. An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is at the scene collecting evidence. Police have closed the road and traffic is being diverted. The road is expected to remain closed until later this afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
