Your Preview to the World Series of Poker in 2020

The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas from May 26 to July 15, 2020. It will be the 51st edition of the global poker series. The competition will include over a hundred bracelet events and new tournament formats like the Mystery Bounty Event. Here is an insight into this year’s World Series of Poker.

The World Series of Poker Schedule

The WSOP’s schedule was produced in February 2020. Many poker fans expect this year’s tournament to be more exciting. Besides, it will have better television and online coverage. More than 9,000 entrants might take part in the poker series.

Bracelet Events in WSOP 2020

Some bracelet events will have low buy-ins thus attracting more entrants. Also, the events have steadily increased since 2005. For example, the 2019 WSOP had 90 bracelet events while the 2018 edition had 78 events. This year’s poker series will comprise more than 100 online and live tournaments. Experienced online poker players can register and sign in to any competition. Last year’s WSOP Main Event had 8,569 participants. It was the highest number of entrants since 2006. The 2020 Main Event might have more than 9,000 players.

Key Events at the 2020 World Series of Poker

The global poker series will comprise different tournaments like:

1.     The Main Event

Gamers will compete in the Main Event on July 1, 2020, and it will last for three days. The 2019 Main Event had 8,569 participants and a $10,000,000 grand prize. Hossein Ensan is the reigning champion of the event. This year’s Main Event will have a $10,000 buy-in. All competitions in the Main Event will end in July. The WSOP organizers ended the November Nine Main Event practice that took place in the past.

2.     High Roller No-Limit Hold’em

The event will take place on July 1, 2020,, and it will last for one day. The 2019 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em had 99 entrants and a $2,792,406 grand prize. This year’s High Roller event will have a $100,000 buy-in. Keith Tilston is the reigning champion of the event. He defeated experienced poker players like Daniel Negreanu. The 2020 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em might have the same structure as last year’s event.

3.     Colossus

Colossus will start on June 24, 2020, and last for two days. It will have a $400 buy-in. Last year’s Colossus event had 13,109 participants and a $451,272 grand prize. Sejin Park won the 2019 Colossus tournament.

4.     Poker Players Championship

The Poker Players Championship of the 2020 WSOP will take place on June 22, 2020, and it will have a buy-in of $50,000. Last year’s championship had 74 participants and a $1,099,311 grand prize. Philip Hui is the reigning champion of the championship. Daniel Cates, Shaun Deeb, Josh Arieh, and Philip Hui might compete in this year’s Poker Players Championship.

The 2020 World Series of Poker will start in a few months’ time. It will feature several competitions like the Main Event, Higher Roller No-Limit Hold’em, Colossus and the Poker Players Championship.
