Youth charged in school weapons incident in Dartmouth

Police have charged a youth in relation to an incident at a school in Dartmouth yesterday.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. officers responded to the Bedford and Forsyth Education Centre Dartmouth Campus on Pinecrest Drive in relation to a report of a student at the school who was believed to be in possession of weapons. The youth left the school prior to officers arriving on scene but was located in the area a short time later. Officers arrested the youth without incident and seized a replica firearm. Officers also seized two knives that had been left behind at the school by the youth.

The 17-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth youth court at a later date to face charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and mischief.
