Investigators assigned to the HRP/RCMP Integrated General Investigation Section have laid charges in connection with a May shooting.

On May 26, at approximately 10:54 p.m., three men were walking in the 2400 block of Creighton Street when they heard what they believed to be gun shots. One of the victims, a 19-year-old man, was shot. The three men ran to the area of Charles and Gottingen Streets where the injured man was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The investigation determined that the incident was random and that two people had fled the area immediately after the shooting.

Last night a 16-year-old male youth was charged in connection with this incident. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court today to face charges of attempted murder, breach of probation and a number of weapons-related offences. The investigation is on-going and additional charges have not been ruled out.
