Youth charged with impaired driving and firearms offences

On February 18 at 3:37 a.m. Lunenburg District RCMP members responded to a complaint of gunshots heard in the Farmington Rd. area. Witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect vehicle.

A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located on Mackay Rd. and police conducted a traffic stop. A rifle was seized from the passenger seat area of the vehicle. Police observed signs of alcohol impairment on the driver. The 17-year-old male from Parkdale was subsequently arrested without incident. No one else was in the vehicle. He was transported to Cookville Detachment where police conducted a breath test and found his blood alcohol readings to be nearly two times the legal limit.

The youth was later released to the custody of his father and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Youth Court on March 7 at 11:00 a.m. on the following charges:

  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Alcohol
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle with Blood Alcohol Over 80mg%
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
