Halifax Regional Police has charged a man with criminal harassment in relation to an incident that occurred in Halifax earlier this week.
On May 14 police received a report that the victim had received a number of harassing text messages of a sexual nature from an unknown phone number. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect was a youth support worker at a community-based organization in Halifax. Investigators believe that the suspect inappropriately obtained the victim’s contact information from the organization’s system.
On May 15, officers arrested the suspect, a 51-year-old man, in Halifax. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- Criminal breach of trust
- Communicating with anyone for purpose of obtaining sexual services
- Criminal harassment (repeated communication)
