Young offender arrested after break-and-enter in Bedford

Halifax Regional PoliceA male young offender has been arrested in relation to two break-and-enter thefts in Bedford.

At about 10:45 p.m. on Sunday night, Halifax Regional Police responded to a break-and-enter at a building under construction on Bluewater Road. A security guard on the scene had spotted a male suspect inside the building and contacted police.

A police canine unit tracked the suspect, who was apprehended some distance away. During a subsequent investigation, police linked the suspect to a second break-in at a home in the area and recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen a few days earlier.

The suspect was arrested and will appear in youth court on Monday to face numerous charges.

Boats seeking refuge were getting knocked around as Hurricane Bill arrived at the Bedford Waterfront on Sunday morning.
