Have you been affected by cancer?
Had to sit there and watch life deteriorate and slowly slip away from a loved one and not be able to understand why? I have.
Had a friend lose a love of their life?
See parents lose there child?
Lose a parent to the awful disease?
I ask you these questions not to upset you but to get you to see that together we can make a difference.
The sad statistics taken from Cancer.ca:
- Based on 2009 incidence rates, 40% of Canadian women and 45% of men will develop cancer during their lifetimes.
- On average, 3,340 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer every week.
- On average, 1,470 Canadians will die of cancer every week.
- Cancer is the leading cause of premature death in Canada: 1,026,600 years of life were lost in 2004 as a result of cancer. This represents 32% of the potential years of life lost resulting from all causes of death.
To me these aren’t just statistics. They are my family, friends, co-workers & neighbours.
So far, the generosity from my small part of the world has been outstanding. I’ve reached 92% of my fundraising goal for Relay.
I would love to break $2,500.00 by Friday. With YOUR help I can do it. If you can relate to any of what I’ve written about, I encourage you to considering making a donation.
Big or Small, the amount is not important. It all helps.
Thank you.
