America’s Got Talent:Twelve more…

Is it just me, or are these America’s Got Talent auditions getting tiring? I feel as though I’ve been watching for weeks and am still having to sit through lame acts like Mary Ellen. Shouldn’t we be down to the really good acts by now? Alas, we saw 12 acts on Tuesday night that varied from good to average to downright bad. Let’s take a look:

Da Maniacs
You just can’t help but love these guys, you know? Are they Vegas show material? Not really. They’re not very technically skilled. But they’re fun. Yeah, I understand why Piers X’ed them. They’re not that talented – but you’ve got to hand it to Da Maniacs, they’re likable.
Nu Covenant
I don’t know if it’s because the AGT stage is a lot bigger than a church or what, but Nu Covenant’s performance was a big mess. Their harmonies were all over the place, they sounded out of tune and out of sync. I hate to say they failed, but they definitely missed their chance to shine.
Anna & Patryk
I didn’t remember seeing this young dancing duo before, but I loved their Tuesday night performance. Christina Aguilera’s “Candy Man” was a great song choice and they nailed the choreography. They were the first act of the episode that really impressed me. I’d love to see them go through to the next round.
Lindsey Sterling
Lindsey’s just cool. With her costumes, dancing and music selection her personality really shines through in her performances. I wished I’d been able to hear her violin playing better in the first part of the song, but overall I enjoyed her performance. I didn’t think it deserved an X from Piers.
Doogie Horner
Yawn. Sorry, but this guy just isn’t funny. He’d get eaten alive on Last Comic Standing. I can’t stand gimmicky comics, even if they’re supposed to be in on the joke. I just don’t want to see him again. I was surprised the judges – especially Piers – enjoyed him so much.
Rudi Macaggi
Rudi’s a performer I’d love to see make it through to the next round. I don’t usually go for the daring, acrobatic performances but this was really something!
Mary Ellen
Seriously? I don’t even want to dignify that performance with a critique. She shouldn’t have even made it this far; for her to continue would be a travesty.
ArcAttack
I wasn’t sure how I felt about ArcAttack the first time around, but their performance was pretty cool and original. It seems like the kind of act that could really do well in Vegas.
Prince Poppycock
I don’t like opera, but I liked Prince Poppycock. The theatricality is just phenomenal.
Murray
I hate magicians. And shouldn’t he at least be “Murray the Magician” or “Magical Murray” or something creative? Just “Murray”? I guess his trick with the woman and the tiger was impressive, but I always want to be shown how to do it. But I guess people who like magic would dig it.
Strikers All Stars
I like this group because I like large dance crews. I’d love to see them make it through to the next round, but since so few dancers do on AGT, it doesn’t look promising.

Only four acts can make it through – who should they be? I’m going with Anna & Patryk, Rudi Macaggi, ArcAttack and Strikers All Stars – but I have a feeling Prince Poppycock or Murray could make it through as well.
