Attempted murder charges after 42-year-old man stabbed by youth

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has charged a youth following a stabbing in Prospect Bay.

On May 5, at approximately 9:10 a.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and EHS responded to a weapons complaint at a home on Prospect Bay Rd. While officers were on route, they learned that a stabbing had occurred.  

Upon arrival, RCMP officers located the victim outside of the residence and learned he had been stabbed multiple times after a verbal argument with a youth known to him. The male youth was safely arrested when he voluntarily exited the residence.

The victim, a 42-year-old Prospect Bay man, was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.

The youth has been charged with:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats

The youth was held in custody and will appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court today.
