Blackberry users across the Maritimes and the rest of the country got an unpleasant surprise this morning as email and text service outages disrupted the device's networks. In an article in today's Metro , development company Research In Motion states that the glitches are part of what the engineering giant has identified as problems within it's own infrastructure.

The technical difficulties are are part of a larger, world-wide service crash with the Middle East, Europe, South America and Asia all being affected. Here in Canada Rogers and Telus Blackberry customers have been the hardest hit, prompting some folks to start thinking about other smartphone options.
