Charges after man struck with bolt cutters

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth yesterday.

Yesterday at approximately 4:20 p.m. officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Jamieson Street in Dartmouth. A man approached another man, who was not known to him, threatened him, struck him with a set of bolt cutters, and attempted to steal his property. The suspect then fled empty handed in a vehicle. 

Officers located the suspect vehicle a short time later unoccupied in the 100 block of Wyse Road in Dartmouth. Officers arrested the suspect a short distance away without further incident.

Howard Rhuben John Catley, 36, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
