Charges laid after dog shot by neighbour – Italy Cross

On February 5 at 9:41 p.m., members of Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a complaint that a dog had been shot near Hwy. 103. The dog, a Labrador/ Pit Bull mix, was transported by family to the local veterinary clinic where it was treated for its injuries. It is home with its owner and is expected to survive.

As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old Italy Cross man was arrested without incident and the firearm used in the incident was seized. The man was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 2. He is facing the following charges:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Injuring or Endangering an Animal

The investigation is ongoing.
