Dogs seized, owner charged after attack

On July 11th, 2011 at about 11:10 pm Halifax Regional Police responded
to the 400 block of Spring Avenue in Dartmouth for an animal complaint.
As a result of the complaint it was learned that two dogs attacked
another which the owners were walking. The smaller dog was taken to the
emergency vet hospital but had to be euthanised. The investigation was
passed on to Animal Services
 
On July 23rd, 2011 Halifax Regional Animal Services assisted by East
Patrol members attended a residence on Spring Avenue in Dartmouth. At
this time two dogs were seized as a result of the alleged attack. The
owner was charged with two counts of owning a dog that runs at large and
2 counts of owning a dog that attacks a person or animal. Fines for each
of the charges is $340.21.
