Firearm Amongst Debris After DUI Accident On Waverley Road

 
At 10:22 pm. Halifax Police responded to the 800 block of the Waverley Road to a report of a multi vehicle accident.  
A pickup truck operated by a 40 year old Dartmouth male was inbound and lost control striking three unoccupied vehicles that were parked in front of a residence.  Contents of the truck were thrown all over the road and even landed inside one of the parked vehicles after smashing through the rear window.  Amongst the debris scatted on the roadway was a firearm.  The driver who was the sole occupant of the truck sustained minor facial injuries and was taken to the QE II hospital for treatment.   He was arrested and is facing the following charges: Impaired driving and five weapon related offences.   Further charges are pending as the investigation continues.  The driver was eventually returned to the police station and released on a promise to appear in Dartmouth Provincial court at a later date.  The Waverly road remained closed along the 800 block until 0200 hrs.
