Lunenburg County District RCMP are on the scene of a three vehicle collision that involved an Emergency Health Services(EHS) ambulance.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., RCMP as well as Italy Cross-Middlewood and Port Medway Fire Departments responded to the collision on Highway 103.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound vehicle stopped on the road to make a left hand turn was rear-ended by another westbound vehicle. The impact caused the first vehicle to be thrown into the path of the EHS ambulance in the oncoming lane. The EHS ambulance, which did not have a patient onboard, ended up in the ditch after impact.

The lone female occupants of the westbound cars were transported to hospital by EHS with what appears to be minor injuries. The paramedics involved in this collision are being transported to Bridgewater hospital for assessment as a precaution.

The investigation is continuing. RCMP expect the highway to be closed for another 30 minutes.
