Home owner sees “two shirtless males” exit car, DUI charges laid

On Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 10:45 PM members of Halifax District Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Lower Sackville responded to a single vehicle collision in which a car drove into a yard on Robert Street in Fall River. 

The home owner reported seeing two shirtless males exit the vehicle and a neighbour reported seeing two young men carrying a number of belongings on nearby Henry Avenue.  The responding officer located the males, who fled from him on foot, but were soon apprehended with the assistance of two off-duty members of Halifax Regional Police.  The 18-year old driver provided breath samples of more than twice the legal limit.  He was also found to be in possession of a large quantity of liquor, some marijuana and a substantial quantity of ecstasy tablets.  He will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 8, 2010 facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operation With Over 80 mgs of Alcohol, Possession of Controlled Substance and Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Consent.
