Ingonish Beach RCMP arrest man responsible for an arson of a home that occurred in 2011.
On July 3, 2014 at approximately 7:00 am., Ingonish Beach RCMP executed an arrest warrant on a man from Northern Cape Breton.
The man, who can not be named as he was a youth at the time of the offence, was arrested for an arson of a home in Capstick,a small community in Northern Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on November 14, 2011. The home was empty at the time and completely destroyed by the fire. The owner had been living in Western Canada at the time.
The fire was investigated and numerous people were interviewed during the investigation but, there was not enough evidence at that time to arrest anyone in connection to the arson. The investigation had remained opened and reviewed as new information became available. Recently the file was reviewed again and the investigator was able to gather additional evidence to arrest a suspect for the arson.
The man is facing charges under the Criminal Code for Arson and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. He has been released from custody and will be appearing in Ingonish Provincial Court on October 9, 2014.
