Library summer highlights

Anyone who knows me knows I have a bit of a 'love/hate' relationship with the libraries. Love them, because they are such a fantastic community resource and offer so many free fun activities for kids. Hate them, because all these free fun activities for kids means lots of work for me updating our calendar! (I don't *really* hate them, of course – I'm just whining.)

This rainy Sunday was the perfect day for some fun necessary data entry – I'm happy to report the drop-in library programs for babies to preschoolers are all now in our activity calendar!

Programs that require registration are not in the calendar, so make sure you still check out the libraries' website or pick up their printed guide to check these out, and make sure you register in time. There's definitely not as many programs in the summer, but these ones popped out at me:

  • Babies' Lap Time, for ages up to 18 months. Stories, rhymes and lapbouncing fun! At Keshen Goodman Library on Thursday July 2 at 10:30am (registration starts June 25) and Friday August 7 at 10:30am (registration starts July 21).
  • Fancy Nancy & Friends, for ages 3 to 5 years. A chance to dress up in your fanciest clothes and join others for some fancy stories and crafts. At Alderney Gate on Wednesday July 22 from 10:30am to 11:15am, and at Keshen Goodman on Thursday, July 30 from 10:30am to 11:15am. Registration began June 25.
  • Dino Stomp, for ages 3 to 5 years. Wonder what kind of games dinosaurs play? Come find out and read dinosaur tales, play games and make a dinosaur craft. At Keshen Goodman on Thursday August 13 from 10:30am to 11:15am. Registration starts July 21.

Check out the libraries' website for more details.
