Man Charged for Breach of a Prohibition Order

Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in connection with a breach of a prohibition order in relation to children that occurred yesterday afternoon in Dartmouth.

At 1:10 p.m. on March 16, a man was observed parked in a gold colored van in the parking lot of the 500 block of Portland Street. When approached by police, it was learned that the man was 55-year-old James Michael Snow of Dartmouth, who is on a lifetime order of prohibition that prevents him from attending a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of fourteen years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, school ground, playground or community centre. The area where Snow was parked is the parking lot of a daycare as well as an indoor playground.

Snow was arrested without incident and was held in custody overnight. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of breach of a prohibition order in relation to children which stems from a 2003 conviction for sexual assault.
