As in many other parts of the world, the work environment has changed for residents of Nova Scotia, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, even though there were adverse changes, new economic opportunities arose all over the world. Nova Scotia is no exception. As is the case with the rest of the world, the COVID-19 has had its economic toll on this region.
Yet, there has been resilience as the pandemic’s effects develop. Moreover, recovery plans have been put into effect. As the recovery from the second wave continues, many lingering economic effects have caused uncertainty.

One of the major factors affecting Nova Scotia, is the present state of the public health system. To find out more, the Province created a dashboard on current health statistics. It also shows all case counts on COVID-19. Additionally, Statistics Canada also has another dashboard. It shows the effects of the pandemic in a broader national picture on the economy and how it is recovering.
Effects of The Pandemic
The pandemic has had many effects on Nova Scotia’s employment figures and labor market. While the effects vary across different industries, they were experienced across the board. In Halifax for instance, the economy underwent a rough patch. It experienced a loss in total employment of a whopping ten percent. At the lowest point, a third of the potential workers were underutilized.
Among the most affected were those approaching retirement and young adults. Female workers were also affected more than their male counterparts. As the city braces itself for another coronavirus wave, the impact might have dire effects. This will have effects on the economy and workers in particular.
Trend Shift to Digital Marketing
During the COVID-19 pandemic, spending habits and customer preferences changed. For business owners, this meant making a substantial shift to digital platforms. With the COVID-19 measures in place, doing business in person has become quite tricky.
Recently, the government of Nova Scotia ordered an extension of the shutdown ,until at least the second week of June. This is to reduce cases of COVID-19 infections. For such reasons, doing business using traditional strategies is not a viable option.

In the recent past, the number of COVID-19 infections has significantly decreased in Nova Scotia due to the measures taken by the government and cooperation by the citizens. On May 26, 2021, the government announced 37 new COVID-19 cases which were the lowest in a month. As the numbers decrease and Nova Scotia returns to life, one thing is for sure, the way of doing business has changed.
