Partners in Policing charged 47 drivers with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle in July 2014. Three of these drivers were charged operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug.

An additional nineteen drivers were issued driving suspensions for operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol. Of these drivers, 58 were male, 8 were female, and ages ranged from 17 to 67 years of age. Eight drivers were identified at motor vehicle collisions and 37 drivers were detected at traffic stops. 911 calls received from the public resulted in nineteen impaired driving charges, a driver’s suspension and nine calls were unfounded. Another five drivers were found impaired at checkpoints.

Officers were able to detect and charge persons at a wide range of BAC’s from 80 – 240 mg%. Ten of the charged persons were more than two times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood and two drivers were more than three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. Eleven of the impaired drivers refused to provide samples and were charged with the offence of refusal.
