(Wednesday, July 6, 2011 ) – This Saturday, neighbours from the
Penhorn/Woodlawn area will join together to give the shoreline of
Penhorn Lake a cleaning during a community event hosted by the
Penhorn/Woodlawn Vision Action Team.
The Vision Action Team is a group of local residents tasked with
implementing the Council-approved Vision for the Penhorn/Woodlawn area
of Dartmouth. The group has been active since last fall and has
identified some priorities, including planning process for the former
Penhorn mall site, trail development around Penhorn lake and community
activities such the Penhorn Lake Clean Up to draw attention to the lake
and its importance to the community.
"The Penhorn Lake is a great community asset and a natural spot for
community gathering and recreation" says Ray MacPhee, member of the
Vision Action Team. "The community clean-up is an opportunity for
residents to learn more about Penhorn Lake, take pride in it and benefit
from its pleasures".
There will be prizes, refreshments (while quantities last) and face
painting for kids. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.
