Pictou County District RCMP investigates attempted armed robbery, Thorburn, N.S.

Pictou County District RCMP is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at a residence on Thorburn Rd.

On October 14, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Pictou County District RCMP responded to a 911 call from a male at a residence on Thorburn Rd.

The caller stated that he answered the door to his residence and was confronted by three male suspects, one holding a bow and arrow. The suspects attempted to gain entry to the house but the homeowner was able to close and lock the door. The suspects then attempted to force their way into the residence, causing damage to the door and a window, but fled the area after seeing a passing vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Pictou County District RCMP have arrested and charged the following three individuals:

Kyle MacLeod, 21, from Stellarton has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon and is appearing in Pictou Provincial Court today.

Aaron Pelley, 19, from Thorburn has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on November 2 at 9:30 a.m.

A 17-year-old male youth from Thorburn has been charged with Robbery with a Weapon and will remain in custody until his court appearance on October 19 in Pictou Provincial Court.

The investigation is ongoing, however police believe that this was not a random act.
