Police agencies in Pictou County have solved a series of ball bearing mischief acts. The Pictou District RCMP, New Glasgow Regional Police Service and Westville Municipal Police Service have charged three men from Westville, two 19-year-olds and one 18-year-old along with one male youth from Greenhill with a total of 13 counts of Mischief to Property.
On December 10th, 2014, Pictou District RCMP responded to seven complaints of broken windows to motor vehicles, businesses and residences throughout Pictou County. Similarly New Glasgow Regional Police responded to five complaints of broken motor vehicle windows and the Westville Municipal Police Service to a complaint of a broken window to a business.
Police quickly determined the incidents were related as evidence at the scene showed that ball bearings caused the damage to the property. Constable Cullen, Pictou County District RCMP said, ‘As police agencies we work closely together and it is through the sharing of the information that we were able to quickly identify and arrest the four people responsible for this damage.’
The investigation is ongoing.
