Police officer killed in car crash identified

Halifax Regional PoliceIt is with great sadness that HRP announced the passing of a member of the Halifax Regional Police family who was killed in a motor vehicle collision last night just outside Truro.

Halifax Regional Police have identified the officer as 41-year-old Constable Tony Carlisle.

Constable Carlisle was hired by Halifax Police Department in May 1995. He was most recently assigned to the Patrol Division, and also spent six years in the Criminal Investigation Division where he worked in both the Drug Unit and General Investigation Section.

He received numerous accolades during his career for his strong investigative skills, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile.

“This is a tremendous loss not only for the extended police family but for the community as a whole. It’s devastating to lose one of our own, especially at this time of year. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Carlisle family,” says Halifax Regional Police Chief Frank A. Beazley.

As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time not only for the officer’s family but for everyone in the Department. HRP asks everyone to respect the family’s privacy as they deal with this tragic loss.

The investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision is being handled by Colchester RCMP.
