Police request public’s assistance – Stolen Papal Plaque

Halifax Regional Police is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the Papal Plaque from the Halifax Commons that is believed to have been stolen over the Easter weekend.

The plaque commemorates the visit of Pope John Paul II in September 1984 and was reported stolen on Wednesday. The plaque was affixed to a stone base on the north side of the Commons along Cunard Street. Halifax Regional Police is releasing a picture of the plaque in hopes that someone will be able to provide information as to its whereabouts.

Anyone with information regarding the plaque’s location or about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
