Port Hawkesbury man in custody after traffic stop, Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

Inverness District RCMP have arrested an 18-year-old Port Hawkesbury man after drugs, pills and bear spray were seized from a vehicle.

Last evening at approximately 11:45 p.m., Inverness District RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Reeves Street.

Upon contact with the occupants, an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act commenced. As a result of a search of the vehicle, RCMP was able to locate and seize a quantity of drugs, pills and one can of bear spray. The 18-year-old passenger was arrested without incident, the 17-year-old female driver was released without charges.

The accused is facing a multitude of charges including five counts of a Breaching a Court Order, four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, three counts of Breaching an Undertaking and one count of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. He has been remanded into custody and will appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on Monday March 17th, 2014 for a Show Cause hearing. The investigation is continuing.
