Vehicle stop leads to contraband tobacco charges, Enfield, N.S.

The Halifax RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit arrested a 45-year-old Dartmouth man after contraband tobacco was seized from a vehicle. On Sunday morning March 16th at approximately 7 a.m.

The Halifax RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit arrested a 45-year-old Dartmouth man after contraband tobacco was seized from a vehicle.

On Sunday morning March 16th at approximately 7 a.m.

, Halifax RCMP Serious and Organized Crime Unit with the assistance of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations and Enfield RCMP stopped a vehicle on highway 102 near Enfield. A search of the U-Haul truck was performed and RCMP seized a total of 50 cases of illegal unstamped cigarettes. The man was arrested without incident.

He is facing charges of Possession of Unstamped Tobacco and other offences relating to the Excise Act and Revenue Act. He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 20th, 2014. The investigation is continuing.
