Press release:
Late Sunday evening, Les Berry’s tenure as Head Coach of the Halifax Rainmen ended by mutual consent. Berry joined the Rainmen in February 2009 after the firing of former Head Coach Rick Lewis.

While the Rainmen have been pleased with Berry’s performance, the decision for his resignation came after he was presented with an opportunity to build his career outside of the sports arena.

“It was a great experience to coach in the best basketball city in Canada,” said Berry. “I thank Andre for providing me with the opportunity to be part of a fantastic organization.”

Berry coached the Rainmen to three wins and one loss during the six games played this season. He did not join the organization during their recent two-game road trip where they added a fourth win and a second loss to the 2011 season.

“Les Berry brought our franchise to the playoffs for the first time in our history. He has done a great job coaching our team,” said Levingston. “We wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors.”

The organization’s new Head Coach will be announced during a press conference that is expected to take place on Wednesday, January 26.  More information about the press conference will be released as it becomes available.

The new Head Coach will make his debut with the organization on Saturday, January 29 at 3 pm against the Saint John Mill Rats.

Tickets for the January 29 game can be purchased at any Ticket Atlantic location or at the Metro Centre Box Office. For information on the $39.95 Bonus Offer or for group rate inquiries, please visit www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
