RCMP investigate fatal collision in Kennetcook, Kennetcook, N.S.

East Hants RCMP are on scene of a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 354 in Kennetcook. At approximately 8:20 a.m. today, East Hants RCMP, Kennetcook Fire Department and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a report of a head-on collision on Highway 354.

At approximately 8:20 a.m. today, East Hants RCMP, Kennetcook Fire Department and Emergency Health Services (EHS) responded to a report of a head-on collision on Highway 354.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the lone occupant of a 4-wheel drive Jeep collided with a Toyota car with three occupants. The lone occupant of the Jeep was not hurt. The 50-year-old woman driver of the Toyota, from Selma, was pronounced dead at the scene while the 14-year-old male occupants were transported by EHS to the Colchester Regional hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) is assisting RCMP at the scene with traffic control. An RCMP Traffic Analyst is assisting with the investigation and the cause of the crash has not been determined.

RCMP expect Highway 354 to be closed until approximately 2 p.m..Traffic will be re-routed through Ettinger road, providing a by-pass in both directions.
