March 29, 2012, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) . . . The Integrated RCMP/HRP General Investigation Section (GIS) is investigating a home invasion that occurred in Tantallon.

At approximately 6:40 p.m. last evening, RCMP in Tantallon responded to 911 call at a home on Hemlock Drive.  Four suspects had broke into the home and restrained the residents.  An adult man was assaulted with a pipe and suspects used a firearm to threaten them and demand a quantity of cash.

The suspects fled the home in a vehicle which was stopped by officers on route to the residence.  All four were arrested and held in custody facing numerous charges. The firearm and cash were recovered. The man who was assaulted was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 23-year-old man from Dartmouth, 21-year-old man, 19-year-old woman and male youth all from Halifax face a total of 70 Criminal Code offences.  They are scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.

Investigators are not eliminating any possible motives for this incident, but believe this was not a random act of violence.
