Kids won’t be the only ones dressing up tonight for Halloween. Halifax District RCMP’s management team are putting on their duty equipment to ride along with the frontline for the night shift.

The RCMP Halifax District senior management team will be an extra set of eyes protecting trick-or-treaters’. These officers are accompanying RCMP members from the Lower Sackville, Tantallon and Cole Harbour detachments and the RCMP/HRP Integrated Street Crime Unit.

‘For many of us, we have moved away from the front line and spend our days fighting crime behind the scenes,’ says Chief Superintendent Roland Wells, Officer in Charge of Halifax District. ‘We miss patrolling in our communities, it’s the core of what we do and I am excited to get out there, speak to citizens and help make it a safe night.’

RCMP encourage motorists to use extra caution as children will be out in large numbers and may not be attentive to traffic. Parents should remind children to stay in groups and follow road and Halloween safety rules.
